small books - a small history

“ Reading books, reading about books, spending a half day
scouring the shelves of bookshops - books have always been my passion.
To begin with I only dreamed of writing them : a dream that came
true when the phone rang one day and someone I'd once interviewed
for a lifestyle feature said "how would you like to write
a book?" ('ask, believe, receive' at work!) The two books
on making better relationships that followed may have garish covers
and tabloid titles but I stand by every word of good advice inside
them .
They were also fun to do, mainly because I was allowed to write
straight from my heart - and because the publishers didn't want
loads of words.
Which set me thinking. I'm a huge fan of self-help books but have
often run out of steam and enthusiasm long before I've run out
of pages. In our fast-track world we don't always need - or have
time to read - vast tomes.
Hence small books, which I decided would offer first aid - for
feelings. You won't get bogged down in words, and you won't be
lectured or preached at. You will get warmth, support, real insights,
plus tools and suggestions to help you on your way through whatever
you are facing.
